Meet Live Translator
Last updated: August 2026
Summary
Meet Live Translator is a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) Chrome extension. It has no server of its own. We do not collect, store, sell, or share any user data, ever.
Your API key
Your API key is stored only in your browser via chrome.storage.sync. It is sent only to the provider you chose — api.anthropic.com or generativelanguage.googleapis.com — to authenticate your own requests. The developer never sees it.
Meeting caption text
Caption text is sent directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider, solely to produce translations and reply suggestions. Nothing is stored after the meeting, and no transcripts are saved.
Microphone
The speak-to-English feature uses the browser's built-in speech recognition. The extension does not record, store, or upload audio.
What we do NOT do
- No analytics
- No tracking
- No accounts
- No developer-owned servers
- No selling of data
Third-party services
When you use your own key, your requests are governed by your provider's terms:
Permissions used
- storage — save your key and preferences locally.
- meet.google.com — display the overlay and read on-screen captions.
- AI provider hosts — send translation and suggestion calls with your key.
